Alicia George-Bailey

My name is Alicia George-Bailey. I’m from Aitchelitz First Nation, which is a part of the Ts’elweyeqw Tribe, and a Swinomish Tribal member from La Conner Washington. My parents are Hereditary Chief Angie Bailey and William Bailey. I am actively involved in my culture, from Canoeing to Winter longhouse gatherings and Summertime powwows.

I am currently the Executive Assistant for Aitchelitz First Nation. Prior to working for Aitchelitz, I was the Lands Clerk for the S.A.Y (Skowkale First Nation, Aitchelitz First Nation and Yakweakwioose First Nation) Lands Office. My job duties were not limited to, but included: Lands Registry, housing, events coordinator, and administrative support. I have also worked as the Community Comprehensive Planner for Aitchelitz and the Housing Maintenance Coordinator for Skowkale. I sit on multiple committees for the Stó:lō Xwexwilmexw Treaty. I have volunteered a lot of time helping my community for community engagements and deliver supplies to members during this pandemic. I’m currently getting mentored for future political involvement.

 Objective: 

  • Empower our youth to be involved within their communities and feel confident to participate in cultural and language.
  • Encourage more involvement with BCAFN engagements
  • Bring awareness and support to our youth for Mental Health 

 Education and Certificates: 

  • Graduated from Chilliwack Secondary in 2014
  • Studied Life Sciences at Northwest Indian College
  • First Nation Electoral Officer certificate
  • Indian Act Electoral Officer certificate
  • Multiple First Nation Lands Advisory Board trainings and workshops

 Awards and Accomplishments: 

  • Attended the 2014 North American Indigenous Games in Regina, Saskatchewan and brought some 6 medals for Canoe and Kayaking.
  • Premier’s Award for Aboriginal Youth Excellence in Sports
  • Aboriginal Champion Award in recognition of outstanding commitment and achievement in the field of Community Health
