BCAFN will seek feedback and dialogue from First Nations in BC regarding Long-Term Reform to the First Nations Child and Family Services Program and Jordan’s Principle. BCAFN intends to identify perspectives, priorities, recommendations and concerns from BC Chiefs, leadership, and First Nations with expertise and experience in this area in order to inform discussions related to long-term reform and the finalization of the Agreement-in-Principle (AIP) on long-term reform.
Travel Expenses (updated): BCAFN is able to provide travel support to BC First Nations Chiefs, and an officially appointed representative or technician to attend this meeting (up to 2 delegates per First Nation), pursuant to BCAFN’s travel expense policies. Relevant forms are enclosed.
Background: On December 31, 2021, the Assembly of First Nations (AFN), the Government of Canada and other parties to negotiations signed two historic AIPs on compensation and long-term reform of the First Nations Child and Family Services (FNCFS) Program and Jordan’s Principle. On July 4, 2022 the Final Settlement Agreement on compensation was announced.
